F11 - Game Changer Session: Specifications in the Age of Smart Cities - How Specs Are Changing the World

Friday, September 15 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM « Back

As our world quickly emerges as large, urban environments, our industry is being challenged with integrating our buildings and infrastructure into the urban fabric of Smart City initiatives and innovations.  Big Data, the Internet of Things, Augmented/Virtual Reality, Kinetic Energy, Autonomous Vehicles and Drones are but a few of the rapidly evolving innovations that specifiers and other industry players need to understand and address today.  The stewardship of the digital DNA of our built environment through data-centric tools like CAD and BIM is no longer valued just for the individual building project, but rather the extended value is in the interconnection and interoperability of this data in the context of Smart Buildings, Smart Neighborhoods and Smart Cities, all driven by innovation.  Join us for a discussion that will define Smart Cities, identify Smart Buildings and provide participants with best practices, lessons learned and a framework strategy for their organizations.

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
• Construct a solution framework to address the holistic opportunities of an interconnected world as a best practice for their organization
• Identify emerging technologies, standards and processes for their organization
• Recognize the effects of culture and technology on their work processes and workplace
• Implement tools and services that provide practical, measured success
