WE16 - Substitutions and Submittals: Not So Dirty Words

Wednesday, October 9 from 1:25 PM to 2:25 PM « Back

Your product isn't the basis of design or an approved equal?  Then submit a substitution request!  Did you know there is a proper CSI form for substitutions and a protocol that must be followed to submit the product?  Once the product is approved, bidding is complete and the project is awarded, don't fret when you hear the term "send in your submittals".  There are recommended guidelines on how you submit to ensure a smooth approval of materials.  Substitutions and submittals are critical communication tools between the builder and designer.  This program reviews these processes in detail and looks at strategies for successfully substituting and submitting products.

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

• Define substitution and identify the reasons why a substitution may or can be submitted on a project
• Identify how to properly submit a substitution request, including common information and samples needed
• Discuss the definition of submittals and why they are a vital component of a building project
• Properly assemble and transmit your submittals to ensure a smooth approval process
