TH06 - Facing Danger: Public Speaking for Non-Public Speakers

Thursday, October 4 from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM « Back

Death and public speaking—those are two of the biggest fears.  Admit it: It's hard to be confident standing up in front of a room full of strangers, right?  Most every speaker has felt (and sometimes still feels) the same way.  In fact, if you don't get excited with stomach butterflies when you're presenting, then you may want to reevaluate what you are delivering.  True, public speaking isn't for everyone, but the right person can deliver a presentation on something very dry and if it is delivered with personality and passion, it will translate through to the audience and be infectious.  Conversely, a person can take an exciting subject and, if they are not dynamic and confident in their delivery, the audience will feel it and the content won’t resonate with them.  Attend this program and learn how to confront the butterflies and overcome your fears.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
• Discuss common fears when it comes to public speaking
• Recognize ways to confront and overcome those fears
• Describe traits that make a public speaker stand out
• Identify opportunities to become a public speaker and break down your walls
